Your Hips

If you have experience of hip pain, then you know how frustrating it can be.

  • limiting you from activities,
  • suffering regular painful lower back and hip soreness.
  • Then worrying about your health professional telling you a hip replacement is beckoning you in your future.
  • arrgh..

If you are in pain with your hips, you should seek medical attention and find out what the cause of your immediate pain is. This course is complimentary to knowing what your problem is.

Some causes may be aggravated by stretching and strengthening exercises, it is essential you do not do anything to make things worse.

The course program is designed to help you discover and explore your body in a way that is comfortable, never moving into discomfort.

Healthy Hip Habits 8 Week Program

The aim of the program is to:

  • get you fully tuned in to the complex hip/groin/abdomen/lower back, or core area in your body.
  • to then take charge of your mobility,
  • exploring the edge of your comfortable Range of movement.
  • integrating the core and specific area of your body into the whole of your experience.
  • making daily targeted exercises a new habit to slowly and gradually increase your mobility range.
  • use constructive rest methods to relax your inner core,
  • practice healing breathskills to nourish your hips with blood and oxygen
  • use visualisation skills with anatomical knowledge to micro adjust your alignment.
  • and much more…

My Hip Story

After spending my childhood avoiding team sports, track sports, any activities that involved a lot of walking or running, I realised in my late teens that maybe I had a problem…

…and maybe my hip shouldn’t make crunching/clicking noises when I walk – and regularly feeling shooting pain across my lower back and down my leg was not normal.

In a casual conversation with my mum in my early 20s, she mentioned I was born with a dislocated hip, had to wear special pants as a baby, and was told I would probably have a limp…

…oh, I get it now, that makes a lot of sense.? …Wah…

With that new information I felt empowered to make some changes. I had been training and studying Kung Fu since my early teens, and whilst a lot of kicking pads made me sore for a few days, a lot of the stretching and breathing had helped me.

I decided to take charge. I went to doctors, chiropractors, osteopaths, physios, PT’s, exercise coaches, yoga teachers, I tried everything I could and took little pieces from everything. Eventually I began studying massage, soft tissue therapy, fascia and anatomy and numerous other anatomical and alignment systems. They all had their tips, tricks and practices that helped. I knew I needed a comprehensive personalised system.

The very best of them were

  • qigong, partly becasue it’s one of the practices I loved to do (it’s part of Kung Fu – my big passion),
  • bodywork practices that you can do yourself (like yoga therapy and shiatsu combined)
  • expansive breathing with visualisation
  • consructive rest positions
  • the mindset of ‘being where I am’ – here and now – and not trying to be somewhere I am not!

I finally managed to become pain free by my late 20s, and have never had any hip discomfort since.

So what’s the magic system… and how can you create one that works for you?

Your Single Key to Healthy Hips

Perhaps the most significant key to making this work for you is committing to a daily routine habitual practice – not just for 8 weeks, that’s just me helping you set up a personalised practice that will work for you.

No, the key is committing to continuing the practice, and having the awareness to evolve and refine it as you move forward in your life. The program is designed for exactly that. It’s a lifelong investment.

You could spend 1000s seeing lots of therapists, and get them to work on you, it will help and you, and will likely give you great relief, the key step remains though, you have to take the reigns by:

  • taking charge,
  • committing to a daily practice
  • owning your body
  • and becoming it’s caretaker, advocate and benefactor
